Great fun!
Caught Joanne Morcom at an open mic reading her polished and engaging haiku.
Then my friend Vivian and I read at our open mic at Vegan Street.
I read The Day God Died and my new version of In the Beginning. Note the black coat, even though it was 31 C, for the first poem. For In the Beginning I removed it to my bright, flowery dress underneath. Just in case people weren't catching the words, the visuals could spell it out for them.
One of my poetry goals is to read all my chapbook poems publicly and there are only seven left.
At the evening afterparty Kris Demeanor, Micheline Maylor, Sheri-D Wilson, and Wakefield Brewster (all former Calgary poet laureates) entertained with poetry and song at the Ironwood. Their styles vary wildly and made for an eclectic, entertaining evening.
