Found Books Open Mic

Here's Sharon Pearce-McLeay and I at Found Books & Shop in Cochrane.

Sharon is a friend who I met through her amazing memoir teaching. She has hosted an open mic at Found for the Alexandra Writer's Centre (AWCS) on the last Wednesday of each month and this is the first time I was able to make it.

Such a great space for community gatherings and to browse for books. I loved listening to the other writers who read an eclectic mix of fiction and poetry. You could tell we were in Cochrane when the cowboy poetry began!

It's been two years since I was last at an AWCS open mic (at Owl's Nest) and I hope I'll be able to attend more often now. Concussion recovery is slow but sure.

There was a doily on a coffee table which felt like enough of a hint to read my poem Doilies May Deceive You from the Becoming Anthology.
