My participation in NaPoWriMo has declined from -
Day One deep dive into the prompts, extensive use of google, a thesaurus, a dictionary, twenty drafts of a poem, and reading/responding to as many poems as possible.
Day Five quick skim of one prompt, four drafts of a poem and read two other people’s poems.
Yikes.
Today's prompt was –
Pick a number between 1-10, “Find the row with your number. Then, write a poem describing the taste of the item in Column A, using the words that appear in that row in Column B and C. For bonus points, give your poem the title of the word that appears in Column A for your row, but don’t use that word in the poem itself.” And also a link to a virtual tour of the Louvre. That will have to wait for another day (month?).
After deep consideration of how I felt about the numbers, I picked 2 for Column A and then used playing cards to randomly pick 5 and 9. [See Sheila Heti's loose use of the I Ching in Motherhood.]
Honey, Gurgle, Eager
Without further ado,
here’s my poem!
Honey
Bees gurgle nectar into sweetness,
my peanut butter eagerly awaits.
